Setting up relationship types
- On the Case Detail tab, under Case Management Details, select the Head House Holds dropdown and select Yes to set the case as a "parent" case.
- Once Head of Household is enabled, a blue home icon will appear, as illustrated below. Hovering over the icon will display the alt text "Create Relation." You can only add relations from the parent case.
- Selecting the blue home icon opens a pop-up window with 4 separated tabs highlighted and explained below.
-
- Head of Household
a) Users can create connections between different cases. The Link to Case dropdown will show a list of cases not linked to any other case, not marked as household cases, and not designated for multiple intakes.
b) Users can view the previously added relationships within the Link to Case Relationship dropdown. Users can add multiple links by clicking on the plus icon, enabling them to establish various connections as needed. Additionally, the red delete icon can remove any newly added rows, providing a simple and convenient way to manage the linked relationships.
c) In the example below, a couple of cases have been associated with John Smith's case. To remove these links, you can select the red delete icon located to the right of each link.
d) The case names are clickable - by clicking on a case name, you will be redirected to that case in a new tab. Once you have added cases and selected relationships, click Save.
- Other Cases
On this tab, a user can define the relationships between cases associated with the household case. The user must choose a value from all the drop-down menus on this tab, or else it will not allow them to save. An error will occur if a user selects a duplicate value in the cases drop-down for the same case. The relationships you have already added will stay visible.
- Relationship
When adding relationships in the system, click on the plus icon. Note that duplicate or Null relationships cannot be added. In the first text field, type the relationship, and below that, there is a dropdown where you can view existing relationships in the system. To remove relations between child cases, click on the delete icon in this tab. Finally, click on save when you are done.
- History
When you access the history tab, you will find two additional tabs that offer specific historical insights. The Household Relations tab provides a detailed record of cases associated with the household, including past interactions and outcomes. On the other hand, the Other Relations tab displays a comprehensive history of child cases, encompassing various details and relevant information.
- When you are examining child cases that are connected to a parent case, you will notice a relation icon. If you hover over the blue icon next to the print icon, a tooltip will appear, providing you with the ability to view the relationships. This feature allows you to see how this case is related to the parent case and any other cases within the same family tree.
- When you click on this icon, a popup will appear, showing the family tree (relation between cases).
Multiple Intake Flows
- If multiple intakes are added against the parent case, you can only add or update relations from the first case. If you are viewing the second case, then you can only view relations of child cases.
- If you add multiple intakes against a child case that was linked with any case, then you will still be able to view relations of child cases not the relation of this case with the parent.
Note:
- If the value in the household dropdown in the case management panel is set to "No," all relationships associated with this case will be deleted.
- Household dropdown will not be visible in child cases.
